ONE! Inspired Weekend

September 14-16th in Lyme, Hanover, Norwich, and Thetford

We are absolutely delighted to invite your involvement in an extraordinary, spirit-filled weekend of fellowship and joy. Together, the Upper Valley Parish (Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, First Congregational Church in Thetford, Lyme Congregational Church, Norwich Congregational Church) and First Baptist Church of Lyme, are welcoming 75 members of the congregation of Community Baptist Church of Englewood, NJ (CBC) to the Upper Valley.
Our theme is from Ephesians 4:4-6: One Body, One Spirit, One Hope. We may come from different backgrounds, speak in our own ways and have various skin colors and ethnicities but we have an opportunity to have unity. We can come together as One Body with all its different parts; it is One Spirit that calls us and we can have One Hope that collects us. I look forward to the ways that this will help us grow in our faith and make efforts toward peace. All events are interdenominational, intergenerational and interracial. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Overview of the Weekend
Friday, September 14
3:00pm - Welcome and Information Tent on Lyme Common
The tent will remain a center of information, resources, and some surprises for visitors throughout the weekend.
6:00pm - Welcome Dinner at Dowds’ Inn in Lyme
Please contact Lyme Congregational Church Office to reserve your space, or click here to reserve online. The meal costs $38, and your contribution to cover that will be most helpful. All are welcome with an advance reservation, regardless of ability to pay.
Saturday, September 15
9:30am - Gather on Lyme Common.
10:00am - Featured Activity: "And Still We Rise" Quilt Exhibit in Canaan
We will bus and drive to Canaan for this national exhibit of quilts depicting 400 years of African American experience.
12:30-2pm - Lunch at LCC
A sandwich lunch will be provided. Those enjoying the time together may gather in Fellowship Hall or perhaps outside. It's looking like it will be a beautiful day!
12:30-4pm - Various Activities ... Free and Fun time
The afternoon may include conversation on the common, visits to some local sites of interest including tours of the churches, short hikes, visits to homes ... or naps! Come and be part of the welcoming and learning and joy together.
2:00-4:00pm - Choir Rehearsal in preparation for Sunday's noon worship service. All are welcome to join or just come and listen and sing along.
4:30pm - Civil Rights at Dartmouth Lecture at Rauner Special Collections Library, Dartmouth College.
5:30pm - ONE! Big Potluck Dinner at Church of Christ at Dartmouth College (CCDC), Hanover, NH
We will share a wonderful New England potluck experience with our visitors from New Jersey. To ensure a bountiful and balanced feast, our CCDC hosts ask that we bring a contribution, to serve 10, based on our last names: A-F main dishes, G-R side dishes or salads, and S-Z desserts. It will be an evening to break bread all together, and much more. Who knows where the spirit will take us? Please plan to join us!
7:30pm - A2VT Concert at Lebanon Opera House
As a group, we'll attend this exciting event. Representing Somalia, Tanzania and Burundi -- and currently living in Burlington -- A2VT synthesizes their native African musical and dance roots with Western pop and hip-hop sensibilities. Their music, performed in up to eight languages, reflects the refugees’ journey from Africa to America and celebrates the musical collision of two continents.

Sunday, September 16

9:30am at Lyme Congregational Church
10:00am at Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, Norwich Congregational Church, and First Congregational Church in Thetford.

After worship and some fellowship on the Lyme Common, our CBC friends will depart for New Jersey, with bag lunches provided by the LCC hospitality committee.
