Our Mission and Activities
Lyme Congregational Church seeks to extend love, concern, and social commitment beyond Lyme and our church in both concrete and spiritual ways. Our growing list of programs will be described on this page.

UCC Zimbabwe Sister Church
The Church is partnered with a UCC Zimbabwe congregation in the small southeastern town of Chibuwe.  Begun in 1997, the partnership has gone through various phases which have included the exchange of letters with pastors and congregants, prayers, and container shipments of medical and school supplies.

In 2015, Outreach, with help from many hands, put on a turkey dinner to raise funds for Chibuwe which had suffered a discouraging drought and failed crops in Winter 2014-15.

Click here to view a copy of the letter from Chibuwe in which Pastor Luke Sigauke describes the impact of 2015's drought on congregants and especially on young students. As always he reaffirms his faith in God and sends prayers to Lyme Congregational Church.

Chibuwe chose to use those funds to help build a dormitory at the Ruwadzano Conference Center. (See photo below.) UCCZ congregants assemble at Ruwadzano to pray, sing, and make plans for their churches.

Later that year, Outreach cooperated with Women's Fellowship to pack up and ship ten boxes of men's, women's and children's clothing to Zimbabwe.

Local Program Support
Outreach also has an ongoing ministry to support LISTEN Community Services in Lebanon, New Hampshire and the HAVEN, a shelter for homeless families and single adults in White River Junction, Vermont and other social programs. Outreach cooked and served two community dinners at LISTEN (for about 125 people each time) in Summer 2015.
